On June 13, 1952, the tomb of Kínich Janaa'b Pakal II , ruler from 615 to 683 AD, was discovered in a lost temple. Inside his tomb was found the Jade Mask of King Pakal, which was believed to endow the King with superhuman powers. After years of its discovery, new investigations suggest that the mask is false and the real one is found in the Temple of Fire .
