About the escape room
Come to the Tavern and live an adventure like no other! Neil Parker comes from a long line of wealth and power, but little is known about his family’s origins. The tyrant’s totalitarian regime is careful with the few details told about his ancestors: great battles, much honor, and the occasional betrayal… Baseless gossip says they were part of the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy, and other tales trace them back to Genghis Khan himself. But the truth is very different. The Parkers’ origin was humble, and like many stories worth telling, it began in a Tavern. Step into the story of Neil Ferdinand, the true ancestor of the City’s tyrant, to discover what began 400 years ago and still lives on in the Tavern at The City Escape Room Barcelona.

AI Overview

AIThe set design is colossal, with transitions and wow moments that surprise again and again. The actors earn lots of praise for their humor and improvisation, though several groups felt the hints were too guided and the opening dragged. Difficulty skews mid-low, focused on adventure and immersive theater more than brain-busting. The most repeated weak spot is the audio, especially in the final room, where it's hard to catch messages and coordinate.
WeaknessesPoor audio in the final section and some unclear prerecorded clips. At times hints arrive too early and certain puzzles feel simple or a bit odd. Hot in summer and a few tight stretches that may be uncomfortable.
StrengthsHuge, detailed, and lively sets; the tavern and the different spaces feel real. Fun actor interactions, cinematic pacing, and a progression that keeps raising the bar.
SecurityAttentive staff and flexible timing, but several reviews mention poor acoustics and one case of a tight space with no immediate exit where the GM was slow to help. There's water, dust, and summer heat: comfortable clothes recommended.
Level of fearNot scary; it's pirate adventure with humor. Family-friendly, though there are physical moments, some water, and somewhat enclosed spaces that might overwhelm sensitive kids.
Actors' gameTwo actors carry the experience with charisma, improvisation, and spark, even in a second language. At times they get over-proactive with hints or the prologue runs long, but most leave delighted.
Quality of riddlesVariety and thematic cohesion, with several physical and team challenges; usually intuitive and brisk. Difficulty is moderate and rarely punishing; more enjoyment than struggle. Those seeking complex brainteasers may feel underfed.
PlotPirate origin story that starts in a tavern and expands in a big way. The narrative hooks you, though some lose the thread due to sound issues at the climax.
Difficulty levelMedium ease; ideal for mixed groups and fans of immersive experiences. The more 'puzzleheads' may miss more logical meat.
