Paris, late 18th century. Marie-Antoine Carême, a passionate chef and pastry artist, spends his days in his workshop pushing his creations to limits never seen before. His passion has made him famous around the world and especially in his homeland, where he is a true icon. One day, while working in his workshop as usual, he received a visit that would change his life forever. Napoleon I, who was to be proclaimed Emperor of the French in a few days, entered the French chef’s workshop to commission the finest dessert ever created for the celebration of his proclamation. Napoleon insisted the dessert be something unique that would surpass any confection made before and promised to reward the chef with all the gold in the world if he fulfilled the commission. Today we know that Carême succeeded in creating a dessert that delighted all the guests; however, the secrecy surrounding that celebration has kept Carême’s creation an authentic mystery to this day...
